FIRST – Fuel Injector Research for Sustainable Transport

FIRST is a 7.3-million Euros European project of the Seventh Framework Programme, partly funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Rolls-Royce. FIRST brings together industrial organisations, research establishments, universities and SMEs across Europe.

The project will run for four years and will deliver key enabling technologies for combustion emission reduction by developing improved design tools and techniques for modelling and controlling fuel sprays and soots. The FIRST project will deliver improved CFD soot models, enabling the reduction of soot in aero-engine combustors.
