9 - 10 March 2009 Congress & Word Trade Centre, Budapest, Hungary
The VITAL (Environmentally Friendly Aero-Engines) Workshop will be held from 9th to 10th March 2009 at the Congress & Word Trade Centre of Budapest - Hungary.
VITAL is a 91-million Euros European R&T project, partly funded by the European Commission. The objective of the research is to develop engine technologies that reduce noise by 6 decibels and CO2 emissions by 7%. These ambitious goals can only be achieved through significant technological breakthroughs. At the same time, VITAL aims to develop innovative technical solutions to reduce the engine's weight, thereby reducing both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The partners in VITAL are focusing their research efforts exclusively on the low-pressure section of the engine, which will be tested independently. The project was launched in January 2005 and is scheduled to run for five years. The VITAL consortium gathers 53 organisations from 16 countries in Europe and over in Russia and South-Africa.
The workshop aims to engage with a broad audience, including members of the wider Aeronautical, Scientific & Technology community to raise general awareness about recent technological advances on future engine configurations. Delegates will be able to share information on the drivers for research on advanced engine architectures and technologies, on their installation on future aircrafts and on the VITAL project achievements to date.
The workshop will hold parallel sessions to discuss three major themes:
- Aerodynamics & Performance
- Noise
- Lightweight Design, Material & Manufacturing
A stand exhibition will also explain the innovative technical solutions developed in VITAL.
A call for presentations is open until 31 December 2008. Registration for this event will open by mid-November 2008.
